Incendie à Martigues
A major fire broke out in the Bouches-du-Rhône, creating a wall of flame several meters high. Winds of over 100 km/h fanned the flames. In the Martigues sector, where campsites and homes were destroyed, 1,800 firefighters fought the blaze all night. They quickly realized that they couldn't beat the blaze. They then decided to save human lives. A total of 2,700 people were evacuated. Campers, tourists and locals, they all ended up spending the night sheltered in gyms.
